乌克兰国家科学院材料科学研究所成功研发出一种全新钛基（Ti-Si-Nb）生物相容性合金，这种钛合金材料的特点是弹性模量低，从而优化与骨材料的相容性。钛合金材料元素对人体无毒性，在一定程度上对人体有益。
根据乌克兰国家医学科学院伤骨科研究所进行的对比试验结果，这种新型钛合金材料生物力学相容性比目前广泛用于医药领域的金属材料（不锈钢，钛合金ВТ6）的性能超过5-20%。乌克兰国家卫生部、乌克兰预防毒理学、食品安全和化学品国家科研中心对该种钛合金材料植入体运用给予积极评价。
此外，该研究所还成功开发出生物活性陶瓷支架用于培育病人的自体细胞，医学专家在再生医学中使用这种材料代替供体骨，用于恢复大量丧失的骨组织。在钛植入体表面使用无菌生物活性陶瓷涂层，可提高骨植入体的可靠性，符合强度要求，同时确保植入体与伤口感染处骨组织的快速融合。
